Hollywood Marine
About
It's the turbulent '60s. Marine Corporal Nick Sergeant is approaching 'short time' when he is transferred from his gravy post in Arlington Virginia back to the Fleet Marine Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he quickly gets himself on the wrong side of his immediate superior, Master Sergeant Glenn Dittmer.
There is some good news. He finds himself in a romantic relationship with a local lounge singer. And he learns that his unit will be going on a cruise through the Caribbean. But disturbing news from home, an antagonistic relationship with fellow Marines (leading to a brutal pick-up football game), and a 'Dear John' letter, lead him into the arms of a Jamaican prostitute.
As he struggles through the final six months of his enlistment, betrayal, racial tension, and murder further complicate his life and alter his perspective.
